Mayweather-Maidana 2 ALL ACCESS on 8/30

(Aug. 12, 2014) – SHOWTIME Sports will offer the latest edition of the award-winning original documentary series ALL ACCESS in advance of the SHOWTME PPV event “MAYHEM: Mayweather vs. Maidana 2,” the welterweight world championship rematch on Saturday, Sept. 13 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

ALL ACCESS: Mayweather vs. Maidana 2 premieres Saturday, Aug. 30, on SHOWTIME at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT and will be immediately followed by a special Saturday installment of ShoBox: The New Generation.

ALL ACCESS gives viewers intimate and exclusive coverage as Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana prepare for the most highly anticipated rematch in recent memory. Episode 1 reveals the aftermath of their thrilling first fight and takes viewers inside the minds of both fighters for what will be only the second rematch Mayweather, the undefeated 11-Time World Champion, has ever granted.

The series will document the ongoing controversy regarding the unresolved “glove issue,” as well as Mayweather’s allegations to dirty tactics employed by Maidana in their competitive first bout. ALL ACCESS will also divulge Maidana’s unique opinion on where Mayweather ranks against the other world-class fighters he’s faced. Hint: the pound-for-pound champ is not at the top and doesn’t garner much respect from the confident Argentine slugger.

ALL ACCESS reveals the opulent lifestyle that Mayweather leads as the highest paid athlete in the world and details how Maidana’s life has dramatically changed since he first signed on to face the champ. Follow Mayweather and Maidana on their five-city cross-country promotional tour and witness how “El Chino” has become a hero to Hispanic fans looking for someone to finally defeat the undefeated Floyd “Money” Mayweather.

Emmy Award-winning actor Barry Pepper returns as the voice of ALL ACCESS.

Episode 2 will premiere Saturday, Sept. 6 and will be followed by the SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING presentation of Adrien Broner vs. Emanuel Taylor. Episode 3 premieres Wednesday, Sept. 10 just days before the four-fight pay-per-view event.

Additionally, SHOWTIME Sports will offer ALL ACCESS LIVE during the WEIGH-IN LIVE: Mayweather vs. Maidana 2 on Friday, Sept. 12. Hosted by Brian Kenny, ALL ACCESS LIVE allows viewers to witness the fighters in a final face-to-face verbal confrontation just 24 hours before they square off.

Each episode will premiere on SHOWTIME with multiple encore presentations, including the cable television premiere on CBS SPORTS NETWORK. All episodes of the series will be available on SHOWTIME ON DEMAND®, SHOWTIME ANYTIME® and online at SHO.com/Sports.

All three episodes will be produced in Spanish and will premiere on FOX Deportes. For more information regarding the schedule for FOX Deportes, please visit http://www.foxdeportes.com/tvschedule

Amir Khan: ‘Fighting Mayweather like chess but Pacquiao would be harder’

Amir Khan, pictured at his gym in Bolton, could fight Robert Guerrero or Devon Alexander in December. Photograph: Colin McPherson for the Guardian

amir khan gym boltonMy nose is a little bruised and bent but only I can tell how bad it is,” Amir Khan says as he smiles ruefully when reminded that nine years ago this summer he made his debut as a professional boxer. Khan tweaks his fighter’s nose gently as if he cannot believe how much he has endured since joining the paid ranks of this battered old business as an Olympic silver medallist and teenage sensation in July 2005.

“So much has happened since then,” he says. “I’ve come back from losses and won world titles. I’ve boxed in the UK and America, won fight of the year and moved up three weight classes. I’ve achieved so much and I’m still only 27. But I feel fresh, which is amazing when you think of all the hard fights and hard training. I’ve been boxing since I was eight and that’s a long time to take punches day after day.”

Khan is engaging and eloquent and, like most boxers, he prefers a genuine conversation to a conventional question-and-answer routine. Being hit in the face also instils a rare candour in fighters like Khan. “I’m in a sport where one punch can change your life,” he says intently at his gym in Bolton. “I understand why my mum and my wife can’t bear to watch me fight. There’s a lot of blood, a lot of pain. I’m a fighter but I find it very hard to watch my brother [Haroon – an unbeaten super-flyweight with a professional record of 5-0] because there’s nothing you can do to help him. It must be hell for my mum.” Read full Story>>>

By Idris Morrey:
Mayweather Maidana 2 Mayweather vs. Maidana 2 marcos rene maidana floyd mayweather jr Recently, WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (46-0, 26 KO’s) declared he has a special opponent in mind for the fans after the September 13 rematch with Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs). The pound for pound long reigning champion called it a surprise to mark on the calenders and fans have not stopped guessing. Media houses, popular blogs and our very own Boxing News 24 paraded possible names for the May 2014 showdown but it all pointed at Bob Arums’ stable of Top Rank.

A photo circulating around the social media today could be confirming our guesses. A Money team labelled van was spotted outside Top Rank gym. It is now clear that Mayweather Promotions and Bob Arum of Top Rank could be talking business again. And what a good reunion it could be for both of these boxing powerhouses who posses arguably the best boxers in the sport right now. Read full Story >>>

Mayweather: Cotto and Canelo hit harder than Maidana

By Allan Fox: Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0, 26 KO’s) did a good job of beating Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31 KO’s) by standing and trading shots last Saturday night to earn a tough 12 round majority decision in their Showtime pay-per-view televised fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. But after the fight, Mayweather had less than glowing words to say about the hard hitting Argentinian fighter.

Canelo Alvarez wants to take Mexican dates from Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Lem Satterfield

Floyd Mayweather Jr. traditionally competes on the weekends of Mexican holidays Cinco de Mayo and Mexican Independence Day in May and September, respectively.

In his past two majority decision victories, Mayweather (46-0, 26 knockouts) added Maidana's WBA welterweight belt to THE RING and WBC championships he already owned and unified Saul Alvarez's WBC junior middleweight title with his RING and WBC championships.

But during a Wednesday conference call promoting his July 12 bout against southpaw Erislandy Lara (19-1-2, 12 knockouts), Alvarez (43-1-1, 31 KOs) said he intends to regain the dates that he feels belong to his Mexican countrymen.

"Yes, of course, I want to re-take those dates and bring them back," said Alvarez, who turns 24 on July 18. "Those dates are Mexican dates. For next year, I will be fighting and I want to be fighting on those dates." Read full Story...

Kell Brook waiting on new date to fight IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter

Kell Brook is waiting to discover if a new date will be set for his world title shot against American Shawn Porter after seeing a bout scheduled for August 9 fall through.

Kell Brook: Waiting on a new date to fight IBF champion Shawn PorterThe unbeaten Sheffield fighter has endured plenty of frustration over the last two years in his attempts to fight for the welterweight crown.

That seemed to have come to an end earlier this month when Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn appeared to have secured a shot at IBF champion Porter at the Brooklyn Barclay Center on August 9.

However, both Danny Garcia and Lamont Peterson are now scheduled to fight on that bill.

Hearn insists Brook’s part of the contract has been signed, and the IBF, who have Brook as the mandatory challenger, has ordered the contest to take place before September 7.

Porter, who could be stripped of his title if he fails to comply with the deadline, has been mooted as a potential opponent for Floyd Mayweather Jr but Hearn does not believe that contest will materialise. Read full Story...
