Top Rank president compares Crawford to Mayweather Jr

By Michael Lieberman: Well, you knew sooner or later someone was going to get around to saying that WBO lightweight champion Terence Crawford (24-0, 17 KOs) was the next Floyd Mayweather Jr or at least compare him to the famous fighter, but it was surprising that it happened so soon without Crawford having taken on a really serious threat.

Last night, Crawford defeated a fighter who was two divisions smaller than him in former IBF/WBA featherweight champion Yuriorkis Gamboa (23-1, 16 KO’s) in a 9th round knockout at the CenturyLink Center, in Omaha, Nebraska, USA.

Crawford, 26, was a favorite going into the fight due to his age, size, activity level, and the fact that Gamboa hadn’t fought in over a year, and he was no longer looking sharp at this point in his career like he had when he was younger. Read full Story...
